"5일 아침 커피 II"
긴 명절연휴의 마지막날-
공기는 유난히 고요하고 구름은 물기를 잔뜩 머금어 무거웠다.
On the last day of the Chuseok holidays,
the air was peculiarly placid and
the clouds were soaked and heavy.
날씨 탓인지
많이 어두운 아침이었다.
Maybe it was the weather, but it was a very dark morning.
하우스 밀감 따러가는 아주머니들,
동네 여기저기 아침산책하는 개들,
옆집으로 뛰어가는 아이,
근처 골프장에서 근무하는 아저씨들 외에는
바람과 새들만 삼거리를 지나갈 뿐이었다.
Other than the ladies on their way to pick mandarin oranges;
dogs taking a morning stroll;
a kid running over to house next door;
and men working at the golf course close by,
only wind and some birds passed the three-way intersection.
결국에는 가을비가 시원하게 내려
"5일 아침 커피 II"는 한 시간 일찍 접어야 했다.
After about an hour, came the autumn rain,
and "5-Day Morning Coffee" had to close up.
이번 아침 커피에서 주목할 것은
오늘 커피를 찾아준 사람들이 다 새로 온 사람들이라는 것이다.
One thing that is noteworthy is that
everyone who asked for coffee that day were new.
이웃에게 전해 듣거나 오가다 지나치며 가지던 관심이
마음의 문을 여는 것으로 발전한다는 것이 매우 중요하게 다가온다.
It is remarkable to observe how mere curiosity aroused in passing
develop to the next stage:
opening minds and getting closer to a stranger.
