곰문 BearDoor
2008, 11x7.5inch
Drawn with colored pens (red, green, yellow, black) on board

One of the first memories of learning Hangul (Korean alphabet) is of my mother showing me how the letter 곰 (bear) becomes 문 (door). It was a simple trick: 180〬 rotation. The fascination for the idea of a symbol with 2 different sides must have shocked me. It is in my mind every so often. I draw an object; rotate; draw another object; rotate; draw another object; rotate......
Nothing yet has fascinated me more than discovering new sides of a familiar subject.
